Alex Funk is a visual artist, painter, teacher and writer. He is the founder of ArtFunk, a community based arts organization. In his visual art, he draws on the natural world for inspiration - seeing his art as a reflection of individuality and an expression of perspective. Light, time of day, weather and landscape all interplay in a greater emotional context to breathe life into his work. His generally en plein air style is an essential facet of capturing the true meaning of a moment. Alex finds inspiration in the sublime, spaces and places where one feels a smallness when gazing out at the vastness of existence. That is why the ocean, the sky, rolling hills and mountains are recurring motifs within his work.
